How to get full text through SciFinder

Answer

SciFinder is primarily an abstracting/indexing database. The full text of journal articles is not hosted within SciFinder itself. To link out to full text from SciFinder:

Click on the Full Text menu from the bottom of the brief or full record.

SciFinder record Full Text menu

Link to Article = Opens the library’s link resolver, which connects users to full text available through other library‑licensed sources or enables article requests via interlibrary loan or Article Galaxy Scholar when the library does not hold the content.

DOI = Goes directly to the publisher site. Content may be unavailable if the library does not have a license for it.

From the Full Record, there will be a link to the Open Access or original source if available.

Patents are a partial exception: SciFinder often links to or provides access to full patent documents from patent offices.

See SciFinder via the library database A-Z for access instructions, including how to register for an account.
