How do I request streaming access to a film through the library?

Answer

The library acquires streaming films from institutional suppliers like Kanopy and Swank upon request. Most films are hosted on vendor platforms and are available on the University of Montana campus, as well as off site to authorized users. The films currently licensed can be found through OneSearch. Apply the ‘Online Access” Availability filter to limit results to non-physical items.

Instructors who intend to use a streaming film in a class should check on the status of the streaming film to make sure it will be licensed during the timeframe it is needed for. Streaming films are often only sold as subscriptions costing an average of $200 per year and the library reserves the right to not renew a title due to low usage numbers. We are happy to reinstate subscriptions quickly as needed. The contact for library acquisitions is library.acq@mso.umt.edu.
