I need material the library does not have or that I cannot borrow through OneSearch. What are my options?

Answer

Make a purchase request

For books and films either physical or electronic, you may request a purchase. Ask for a hold on the item so that you are first in line to use it. If the request is approved, the material acquired will be added to the permanent collection. The library’s default is to add an item in print if no format is specified. If the item is unavailable to acquire, interlibrary loan should be an option if other libraries have a circulating copy.

Interlibrary Loan

If you are looking for a journal article or just a book chapter, please make an interlibrary loan request. The library will use electronic lending or purchasing channels to get the item for you within 1-4 days.

Books and other materials may also be requested via interlibrary loan. The library will borrow the title and return it to the lending library when your loan period has ended. WorldCat is a great resource for making interlibrary loan requests. The records link out to an interlibrary loan request form that is pre-populated with item details. Materials not findable in WorldCat are generally ones that we cannot acquire either through purchase or interlibrary loan.
