How do I find an ebook?
Answer
OneSearch is the primary tool you can use to find books, media, articles, periodicals, databases, and everything else in our general collections! By default, OneSearch will include everything in our physical collections at the Mansfield Library, the Payne Family Library at Missoula College, the Jameson Law Library, and many of our partner academic libraries across Montana in the TRAILS consortium. Learn more searching strategies on our OneSearch Tips page.
If you’d like to limit your search to only include eBooks, follow these steps:
- Enter your search terms in OneSearch on our homepage.
- On the search results page, under “Refine Results”, select “Online Access” under the Availability options, and “Books” under the Resource Type options.
- Click “Apply Filters” to update your search results.
If there aren’t any books that meet your search terms, you won’t see the “Online Access” or “Books” options in the filters at all.
Under each search result you should see a status and location such as “Online available” or “Check online access.” Click these to open up the full book listing and then navigate to the “Online Availability” section. You will see a list of all of our online access options – click on whichever works best for you. Note that you may need to log in with your NetID to access an eBook.
If you don’t see the book you’re looking for in the search results, you can contact us for help. If you are a UM student, employee, or affiliate with an active NetID you can also place an Interlibrary Loan request or fill out a Purchase Request form.
